These cover plates were obtained by my family directly from World Color Press in the 1980's.

You see many printing plates but you hardly ever see the cover plates.
Thats because every newspaper around the country had printing presses that used hundreds of plates for cartoon runs.
The page plates in the comic book are much more common because there is only one cover and multiple page plates.
The cover has the best display-ability of any printing plate.
The cover plates were secured in their own storage room at the plant while the page plates were just thrown into the scrap recovery ben that anyone had access to.
These cover plates were sold to my family which destroyed most of them for the metal that was in them except what I kept out.

These plates have a curve from where they ran on the printing press.
They are flexible enough to be flattened for framing.
They look incredible framed with the comic book it printed.
