XXConklin #56 BCHR Fountain Pen, Restored, c1920s, American University Emblem
This is a #56 BCHR Conklin fountain pen.
This is big pen and measures 5 5/8 inches closed. Pen dates to the 1920s.
This is a #5 size pen. Conklin made this model in the following sizes: #26, #46, #56 and #76. The leading number is the nib size. Thus for this pen (#56) the proper nib is a #5. Same convention applied to their crescent filling pens - the leading number denoted the nib size (#20, #30, #40, #50, and #75). This pen is the same size as a crescent filling Conklin #50.
Pen has no cracks, no engravings or any damage. However, the lever arm is just a little loose (will rock up and down about 1mm) and it sits up about 1mm (see pic). Lever arm is solid and functions just as it should.
The patriotic emblem on the clip represents American University which is located in Washington, D.C.
The #5 nib is Medium and firm and performs on the wet side.
Pen has a fresh sac and is ready to fill and use.
